I have been providing psychotherapy services for more than twenty years. I provide individual, couples, and group psychotherapy to adults struggling with numerous issues, including stress and anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief and loss, ADHD, parenting concerns, chronic illness, and relationship difficulties.
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY - I am an integrative therapist, making use of elements from different evidence-based treatments, including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavioral, insight-oriented, and mindfulness-based stress reduction therapy. I collaborate with clients to develop a treatment plan that is unique to their individual needs, targeting and finding concrete strategies to develop strengths and address problem areas. Our focus is on finding solutions for current problems, while also understanding the context created by life history.
OLDER ADULTS - I have a special interest in working with older adults, including addressing the impact of issues associated with aging. I address the life transitions experienced by midlife and older adults, such as coping with challenging teens, managing empty nest issues, navigating relationships with adult children and grandchildren, caregiver issues, adjusting to retirement, dealing with physical and cognitive changes, making decisions about living situations, loss and bereavement, and chronic illness. I also work with older adults struggling with depression, anxiety, loneliness, isolation, loss, and relationship issues.
THERAPY RELATIONSHIP – I am committed to your making an active consumer choice about therapy. So I generally start with a free telephone consultation, which gives you the opportunity to check me out, and I can hear what’s going on with you. Then I like to work with clients for three sessions, at which point we decide whether we’re a good fit and whether I can be helpful to you.
DIVERSITY - I have experience working with clients of diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds and sexual orientations.
